United Airlines announced a slew of exciting new routes to Europe and the Caribbean on Thursday, including a brand-new nonstop flight from Chicago-O'Hare (ORD) to Zurich (ZRH) and summer seasonal flights from its hub in Newark (EWR) to both Palermo, Italy (PMO) and Nice, France (NCE).
Those routes are part of a massive expansion at United for 2020 at a time when both American Airlines and Delta have both done the same. And just as with its competitors, United is adding new flights while also expanding its existing service.
United will also begin flying from Newark (EWR) to Curacao (CUR) during the winter in 2020, adding another Caribbean island to its reach.
The new flight from Chicago-O'Hare to Zurich is an exciting addition, as it's the airline's eighth nonstop flight from Chicago to Europe. That service begins March 28, 2020 on a newly configured Boeing 767-300 – complete with the airline's latest Polaris business class seats.
But the Chicago-based airline is also adding to some of the routes it's already flying today, including:
- Denver (DEN) to London-Heathrow (LHR): Currently a summer seasonal flight, it will fly year-round daily starting this fall.
- San Francisco (SFO) to New Delhi (DEL): Slated to begin in December as a seasonal service during the winter, United now says it will fly to the Indian capital year-round.
- Newark (EWR) to Amsterdam (AMS):Â Starting in March, United will add a second daily flight to Amsterdam from its Newark hub.
- Newark (EWR) to Frankfurt (FRA): Starting in March, United is adding a second daily flight from Newark to Frankfurt.
