Uber & SPG Will End Partnership on December 17, 2017

Since 2015, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Uber have had a partnership that has allowed members to earn Starpoints for their Uber rides, and bonus points for rides that took place during stays at SPG hotels. Last week, the two companies announced that the partnership would be coming to an end on December 17th, 2017.

Bottom Line

This is an interesting development to me, and I am sad to see this partnership going away. This was a very simple way to earn additional, valuable SPG points. You could even earn them for takeout orders with UberEATS. I suspect that since the Marriott takeover of SPG, they are taking a look at existing SPG partnerships and starting to cut the ones that will not be coming over to the Marriott Rewards program.
