Why don’t you have TSA Precheck?

I’m sure many of you have seen the news reports over the last couple of weeks. TSA security lines are horrendously long, and will not get any better through this summer. Luckily there is a simple solution. GET TSA PRECHECK! It’s our #1 way to save time on your next trip.

Waiting for an hour to get through airport security is soul crushing and may cause you to miss a flight. Even if you only travel 1-2 times a year, TSA Precheck is a no-brainer. With Precheck, you can usually pass through TSA security in less than 10 minutes, and you don’t have to take off your shoes or remove your laptop. Trust me, pay the $85 and sign up. All you have to do is fill out a short form online and then make an appointment at a Precheck center. The appointment lasted about five minutes and I was out the door, and my Known Traveler Number (KTN) was available to me in 24 hours. Once I got my KTN, I input it into all my airline accounts online, and I was ready for expedited screening. It’s a quick and easy process and is good for five years.

If you travel internationally I recommend Global Entry, which allows you to skip the long customs lines on your entry back into the US. It’s a little more effort but it’s worth it. Global Entry is $100 and once approved for the program, you automatically receive TSA Precheck as well, for FREE! If you travel internationally definitely pay the extra $15 to get Global Entry.

Bottom Line

When I’m going through the TSA Precheck lane and I see hordes of people waiting in the other line it boggles my mind. Why would you subject yourself to that when you can pay $85 and speed through in no time? Do yourself a favor and sign-up for one of the programs today. You won’t regret it.

Great advice, I am definitely considering this. When traveling with children can they automatically benefit from my Global status or do they need it aswell?
