TSA: Domestic fliers can use old ID’s through 2020

Fear not travelers! Your current driver's licenses will be good at all US airports through October 1, 2020! As we covered earlier this year, the Real ID act has become a real nightmare. Most airports have signs that warn travelers in several states (Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington) that alternative forms of ID, besides drivers licenses, will be required to fly starting January 22, 2018.

Many states are still not compliant with the Real ID act and have received multiple extensions, but January 22, 2018 was the deadline for those still on the naughty list. Thankfully, the TSA has announced that all old driver's licenses will be good through 2020.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman Mike England said Wednesday in a statement that people in all 50 states can use old driver’s licenses until Oct. 1, 2020.

No longer valid! All licenses good through 2020.

Bottom Line

Glad to see reason has prevailed and we can now worry about more important things like the TSA missing 95% of drugs, guns, and bombs at my home airport!
