Top 5 Redemptions for Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is one of the top travel rewards cards in the points game. Ultimate Rewards points can be used to book actual flights or can be transferred to several valuable partners. Let’s run down the top 5 redemptions for the Chase Sapphire Preferred 50k offer. Learn more about this card and other travel rewards cards here.
#1: Book Flight Deals
The 50k offer is worth $625 towards flights. Booking flight deals is an incredibly easy and efficient use of points. Most deals you find here on Thrifty Traveler can be booked using Ultimate Rewards (UR) points. Travel purchased through the Ultimate Rewards portal has a value of 1 UR = 1.25 cents. Points can be redeemed through the portal to book flights, hotels, cars, or activities. The portal functions the same as any other travel booking site, only instead of cash you use points.
Thrifty Tip #1: Find a flight deal here at Thrifty Traveler? Go to the UR Portal and book the sale fare using points. This is one of the best ways to maximize the value of your points. Cheap flights require less points!
Thrifty Tip #2: Only have a few points? You can book with points and cash and earn 2x points on the cash portion.
#2: Park Hyatt & Hyatt All-inclusives
The Park Hyatt and Andaz properties are top notch and start at only 20,000 Hyatt points a night. The same goes for Hyatt’s all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara and Ziva hotels. These are some of my favorite redemptions in any point programs, especially the Hyatt all-inclusives.
Our favorite Hyatt hotels:
- Park Hyatt New York
- Park Hyatt Dubai (lead photo)
- Park Hyatt Paris
- Park Hyatt Zurich
- Park Hyatt Sydney
- Park Hyatt Mallorca
- Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta (pictured above)
- Hyatt Zilara Cancun
- Hyatt Andaz NYC 5th Ave
- Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Costa Rica
- Hyatt Andaz Mayakoba Mexico
#3: Flying Blue to Caribbean for 25k Miles & Hawaii for 30k Miles
You can book Delta flights using Flying Blue miles (Air France / KLM) for only 25,000 miles from the US to the Caribbean, Mexico, and 30,000 miles to Hawaii. Alternatively, you can book flights to Hawaii using Korean Air’s loyalty program for 25,000 miles, but it’s a little more of a cumbersome process.
#4: Singapore Airlines
Fly Singapore First Class from NYC to Frankfurt, Germany for as low as 76,000 miles on the Airbus A380 or fly Business Class from Houston to Manchester, England for only 65,000 miles on the high-tech new Airbus A350. Singapore Airlines has tons of other routings but these are the most popular out of the US. Award availability is also solid if you book far enough out.
Southwest is a simple rewards program which offers solid value. The best part is you can cancel award bookings. This comes in really handy during Southwest fare sales when award tickets are also on sale. You can cancel your old ticket and rebook at a cheaper price.
The best value in the points game is the Southwest Companion pass, which allows you to fly for free with another person for up to 18 months, regardless if the ticket was booked with cash or points. If you frequently travel with another person there is no better deal.
There are so many great uses for Ultimate Rewards. In the next few months I’ll be flying to Mexico using Flying Blue miles, flying Singapore First Class to Frankfurt, and also staying at the Park Hyatt Mallorca. It’s hard to beat the value offered by these redemptions! Learn more about this card and other travel rewards cards here.
