Thrifty Traveler’s Guide to the Best Small Business Credit Cards
This week is the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Week (April 29th to May 5th, 2018). Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. If you are a small business owner, you know just how important it is to maximize every dollar you spend. In this post, we will outline our favorite small business credit cards to help you do just that.
1. Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
The Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card is currently offering 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the first three months of card membership. The Ink cards have category bonuses that can be very valuable to small business owners who spend money on shipping, travel, social media advertising, utility bills, etc.. Further, if you sign-up for the card in a Chase Bank branch, you may be able to get an offer for 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points. Learn more about that from Doctor of Credit’s post.
This is one of our favorite small business credit cards. The Annual Fee is $95 and is not waived for the first year of card membership. The sign-up bonus is worth at least $1,000 if redeemed for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

2. Chase Ink Business Cash Credit Card
The Chase Ink Business Cash credit card is currently offering $500 cash back after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of card membership. This $500 cash back can be turned into 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points if you pair it with the Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve credit cards.
Additionally, the card has no annual fee! The sign-up bonus is worth at least $625 if redeemed through the Chase portal and paired with one of the aforementioned cards.

4. Business Platinum Card From American Express OPEN
The Business Card is offering 50,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $10,000 within the first three months of card membership and another 25,000 Membership Rewards points after spending an additional $10,000 within the first 3 months. This is another great small business credit card that comes with most of the same benefits of the personal version of the American Express Platinum Card.
The card does come with an annual fee of $450 which isn’t waived for the first year. However, it offers a $200 annual airline credit, 10 gogo WiFi passes and the best airport lounge access offered from any credit card. It also offers one of my favorite benefits offered from any credit card product.

5. The American Express Blue Business Plus Credit Card
The Blue Business Plus credit card from American Express is one of my favorite no annual fee travel rewards credit cards. It earns 2X Membership Rewards points on all purchases up to $50,000 a year. This is a fantastic return on everyday spending.
I place a high value on Membership Rewards because of the flexibility they provide. For example, they can be transferred at a 1:1 ratio directly into your Delta SkyMiles account. More card details below:
- Earn 2X Membership Rewards points on the first $50,000 in purchases each year. Earn 1X points thereafter.
- 0% introductory APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers.

6. Capital One Spark Cash for Business
If earning points & miles on your business expenses isn’t your thing, the Capital One Spark Cash for Business credit card is a solid cash back card offering. The card has a welcome offer of $500 cash back once you spend $4,500 in the first 3 months of opening the account.
The card also earns an unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases. The card has an annual fee of $95 but it is waived for year 1. If you spend more than $4,750 on the card in a calendar year, you will come out ahead of the $95 annual fee due to the 2% cash back.
