Our Analysis

Many things with the Marriott and SPG merger have been complicated, and the co-branded card relationship is no exception. If you are interested in grabbing either of these cards, make sure to see our post on the ugly restrictions you need to be aware of.

To make this less complicated, American Express recently rolled out a welcome bonus eligibility tool that makes it pretty straight forward to understand whether or not you can earn a welcome bonus before submitting an application and taking a credit pull.

Not only do both of these Marriott Bonvoy Amex cards provide a strong welcome bonus, but they both also provide a free anniversary night which allows you to recoup your annual fee and then some pretty easily. It is one of the most lucrative benefits offered by either card.

Thrifty Tip: See our post on the best uses of the Marriott Free Night Certificate.

Bottom Line

Both of these offers are valid through April 24. If you haven’t yet had these cards, now is a great time to pick them up for both the welcome offer bonus and the free night certificate it will provide each year after your cardmember anniversary.
