How to Cancel a Credit Card Online
When Mrs. TT was introduced to the world of points and miles she loved the benefits and free travel. What she didn’t like was calling in to cancel the credit cards before we got hit with the annual fee 12 months later. As an accountant tracking information and working with spreadsheets is something I do every day but for many people, it’s just too much work. Here are a couple of easy tricks to make it easier and cancel a credit card online.
Step 1: Setup a Calendar Reminder to Cancel
I can never remember the date of my dentist appointment six months later so I always put the appointment into my phone’s calendar. I then set a reminder to notify me before my next appointment. I do the same thing after being approved for a credit card. I typically close cards with annual fees 9 months after opening and receiving the bonus, avoiding the annual fee.
Step 2: Close Credit Cards Online
The good news is that you don’t have to call in to cancel cards anymore! You simply use the messaging system built into your online account. Just send a message that you would like to cancel your card and in less than two hours you will receive a reply that your card is canceled. You should then see your card has been canceled in your online account. Awesome right!?
