Free Entrance to US National Parks Today

As we covered last year, the National Park Service (NPS) turned 100 years old in 2016. Celebrate the start of the NPS’s second century by visiting a park in 2017. During 10 days of this year, all NPS sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone.

Thrifty Tip: Canada is waiving all fees for their national parks in 2017!

Mark your calendar for these entrance fee–free dates in 2017:
  • January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 20: Presidents’ Day
  • April 15-16 and 22-23: Weekends of National Park Week
  • August 25: National Park Service Birthday
  • September 30: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11-12: Veterans Day Weekend

Bottom Line

The United States has incredible National Parks. Check out the listing here. If you can’t swing a visit today, make sure to plan your trip later this year. It’s hard to beat free.
