FlyingBlue, the combined frequent flyer mile program of Air France and KLM, already offers some of the cheapest ways to use miles to fly to Europe through monthly sales. But it’s getting even sweeter.

For the next few days, FlyingBlue has an additional sale on flights between several U.S. gateways and basically any city in Europe starting at just 28,000 FlyingBlue miles round trip. You can fly economy from New York City for 28,000 miles, Vancouver (YVR) for 30,000 miles, San Francisco (SFO) for 34,000 miles. Hop up to Toronto (YYZ), and you can snag a business class fare for 70,000 miles round trip.

In every case, that’s more than half off what you’d normally pay in miles on Air France, KLM or basically any airline.

Time is short to book these deals, as this special promotion ends Friday, Nov. 16. But you don’t need to hop on a plane this weekend, as it’s eligible for travel from Jan. 1 through March 31, 2019.

And perhaps the best part of this promo is that it’s not just good for flights to hubs in Paris-Charles De Gaulle (CDG) or Amsterdam (AMS). You can connect almost anywhere in Europe that the two airlines fly for the same base price.

So you can use this promotion for a winter or early spring trip to Rome (FCO), London (LHR), Dublin (DUB), Athens (ATH), and dozens more. The list goes on and on, so act fast.

FlyingBlue Promo

Beware that FlyingBlue does pass on some fees on award tickets, so your booking won’t be exactly free. The final price will vary based on what European airport you’re flying in and out of, but expect to pay $150 or more. With tickets starting at 28,000 miles round trip, that’s still an absolute steal.

Our Analysis

These deals are barnburners, and it’s unlikely you’ll find a cheaper way to get to Europe using your miles. It’s a no-brainer if you’re based in New York, San Francisco or Toronto. And it could easily be worth booking a positioning flight to book one of these award tickets.

FlyingBlue took a page out of Delta’s book earlier this year and implemented a variable award pricing system, where the price for a given flight in miles is constantly changing. And much like Delta SkyMiles, that comes with some serious tradeoffs.

Among them is their Promo Rewards, a monthly list of discounted travel opportunities between AMS or CDG and the rest of the world. But this latest promo takes it even further by expanding the discounts to cities throughout Europe.

If you don’t have the miles in your FlyingBlue account, don’t worry. FlyingBlue miles are among the easiest in the world to accumulate.

That’s because the frequent flyer program is transfer partners with every major points currency: Chase, American Express, Citi and Marriott Rewards points can all transfer directly to FlyingBlue. Starting next month, you can even transfer Capital One points to your Air France/KLM account.

Bottom Line

If a trip to Europe is on your mind for 2019, this is a great promotion. Just be sure to act fast, as you only have until Friday to book!
