Delta keeps putting out these unadvertised SkyMiles flash sales, and we keep finding them. This time it’s for round-trip Delta flights to Hawaii starting at just 30,000 SkyMiles. Book ASAP!

West Coast cities get the best deals, as the cheapest flights we’ve found are out of San Diego (SAN), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), Sacramento (SMF) and San Francisco (SFO). They start at 30,000 SkyMiles round trip to Kona (KOA) on the “big island” and Kahului (OGG) on Maui.

While cities in the Midwest and East Coast don’t have these barnburner rates, there’s a lot of solid availability at decent prices in the 45,000-55,000 mile range throughout the schedule.

The norm for these flights is typically 60,000 SkyMiles round-trip. However, Delta frequently charges much more for flights to Hawaii, so there are savings available nationwide. Availability looks best in August and September, but there are some great awards scattered throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

Worried about recent volcanic activity in Hawaii? You shouldn’t be, as its tourism authority insists traveling there is still perfectly safe.

Our Analysis

Delta gets a bad rap for not having an award chart, but flash sales like this one are one of the many benefits that give SkyMiles some excellent value. This is just the latest unadvertised flash sale we’ve uncovered in the last few months.

This deal starts at 30,000 SkyMiles round-trip but only a handful of departure cities and destinations are available at that price point, largely on the West Coast. However, we’re seeing some reduced awards across the nation, and far better availability than we’ve ever seen for Delta flights to Hawaii.

You may be able to lock in these exact same flights for even cheaper by using some partner programs with better award charts. Once you locate a cheap fare, check out the flights through Korean Air’s SkyPass program, which charges just 25,000 miles round trip for saver-level flights to Hawaii. Another possible option is Air France/KLM, which charges 35,000 miles.

You can get Korean Air miles by transferring them from Chase Ultimate Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest. Air France/KLM is also transfer partners with Chase as well as American Express and Citi.

Bottom Line

By the numbers, we’ve seen much bigger SkyMiles flash sales. But cheap Delta flights to Hawaii are hard to come by, which makes some of these flights starting at 30,000 SkyMiles a real steal.

Search from your home airport to see what you can find. If you’ve been mulling a trip to Hawaii, book ASAP as there’s no telling how long this sale will last.
