[Ends Tonight] Delta SkyMiles Sale to Europe for 50k miles (R/T)
Today is the last day of the Delta late summer SkyMiles flash sale on Economy and Delta One travel to Europe. Economy fares start at 50k SkyMiles which is 10k less than the 60k Skymiles typically required to fly round-trip to Europe. Delta One (business class) starts at 110k SkyMiles round-trip, which is 30k SkyMiles less than a normal ticket. The flash SkyMiles sale is good for fares between August 1st – October 31st. Book by March 15th at 11:59pm ET!
The sale works from almost every US city with Delta service! This sale also appears to have decent award space. Many times when booking an award fare, there is only one award seat available on the entire plane, which makes booking for two impossible. I searched several flights and there were up to 9 seats available for booking in Economy. This means you can take your whole family if you’ve got enough SkyMiles!
Thrifty Tip: Already booked an award fare during this time period? Call Delta and they should refund the difference!

Excellent availability! You can fly from almost every city in the United States (with Delta service) to Europe for less than your typical American Express Delta card sign-up bonus.
I searched several cities to show you how much value you can squeeze out of this sale. I use Fargo, ND as an example of a small regional airport. You can fly from Fargo, ND to Madrid for only 50k SkyMiles. This is normally an $1100 ticket.
There is also great availability for nonstop flights from all of Delta’s main hubs (ATL, DTW, MSP, LGA, SLC, JFK, LAX, SEA, CVG, BOS) in both Economy and Delta One.
Thrifty Tip: Want to avoid high fees on award redemptions? Fly into Amsterdam vs. London. Fees are about $120 less if you avoid London.
The real value play of this sale is the Delta One tickets for 110k SkyMiles. The same nonstop Detroit to Amsterdam flight below sells for over $3,000! Flying first or business class in a lay-flat seat is always the best way to maximize your point potential.
The sample flight is on an Airbus A330 and has the same seats featured in the lead photo of this post. Always try to fly the A330 or the Boeing 777 if you are flying Delta, which are equipped with the fancy reverse herringbone seats.
I frequently hear people complain about how worthless SkyMiles are for flight redemptions. Many people call them “SkyPesos”, but sales like this show you how valuable they are.
