American Express has added a great new offer for purchases at eBags, one of our favorite places to buy luggage. Spend $200 at eBags get $20 back or 2,000 Membership Rewards points.

The offer is a one-time statement credit which must be used by June 17, 2019. This offer seems to be pretty widely available as I was able to pull it up on all of my American Express cards. All of my cards that earn American Express Membership Rewards points had the offer to earn 2,000 points while my other cards have the $20 back offer.

And as is the case with all Amex offers, this eBags Amex Offer doesn’t need to be completed in one transaction. You can reach the spending requirement over multiple transactions.

What is eBags?

If you are not familiar with eBags, they are a fantastic online luggage retailer and a favorite of the Thrifty Traveler team. Not only do they offer their own eBags branded luggage, which includes one of our favorite travel backpacks, but they also carry the likes of Tumi, TravelPro, Briggs & Riley, Samsonite, The North Face and many more at very competitive prices.

But perhaps my favorite thing about shopping at eBags is the ability to earn additional cash back or points and miles through one of the many portals that they partner with. Before making any purchases at eBags, I always first stop at cashbackmonitor.com to see which of the many portals is currently offering the best deal.

As you can see below, it is currently possible to earn 7x Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent if you first click through the Shop Through Chase portal. You can stack this with the eBags Amex Offer to double down on your savings.

As an Example, if I were to make a purchase at eBags for $100 by first clicking through the Shop Through Chase portal, I would earn 700 Ultimate Rewards points. If I used the American Express card I added this Amex Offer on, I would also receive $20 back in the form of a statement credit. There is no requirement that you use a Chase card when using the Shop Through Chase portal.

Additionally, the points or miles you earn from the portal are in addition to the points or miles you would earn on the credit card used to make the purchase.

Where to Find Amex Offers

If you haven’t used Amex Offers before, simply log into your American Express account and scroll down near the bottom of the screen and there should be a box called Amex Offers & Benefits (this is available through the Amex mobile app as well). If you see an offer you like, simply add the offer to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card. You should receive a statement credit for the offer within a few days of making a purchase.

Bottom Line

I’m a fan of Amex offers because they’re basically free money for spending I am going to do anyhow. They’re just another way to justify the cost of a credit card’s annual fee.

Make sure to check your various American Express credit cards because each one can have different offers. However, as mentioned above, it looks like this offer is pretty widely available. The offers change quite frequently, so add this one now before it disappears.
