Delta recently started selling basic economy awards for flights to South America. So some – but not all – of the cheapest rates will book into Delta's basic economy. That means you wont get to pick your seat in advance and can only bring a carry-on. You can typically upgrade to main cabin economy for just a few thousand more SkyMiles.

Cash fees when flying from the U.S. are roughly $50, which is very reasonable. And starting May 1, flights will be on Delta's refreshed Boeing 767-400!

Nonstop fares are available out of Atlanta for just 30,000 SkyMiles and availability at those dirt-cheap rates is wide open.
