Delta just announced another monthly flash sale with a 48-hour sale on economy flights to Asia. This deal starts at 40k SkyMiles round-trip in economy (the norm is 60k to 100k) and 70k SkyMiles round-trip in Delta’s Premium Select cabin. The sale is available from most cities with Delta Service in the United States. However, the biggest sales are generally on the routes they are advertising as was the case with the sale last week to Asia and the South Pacific.

Flights are available for travel from September 10th – December 10th, 2018. This offer expires Wednesday, July 11th at 11:59 EST.

Thrifty Tip #1: Already booked an award fare during this time period? Call Delta and they may refund the difference.

Thrifty Tip #2: When booking, make sure to select “Calendar View” and “5 weeks” to maximize the dates viewable.

Thrifty Tip #3: Take advantage of a limited time offer to earn 70,000 SkyMiles with the Delta Platinum business credit card.

Our Analysis

This deal starts at 40,000 SkyMiles round-trip in economy but with most of Delta’s flash sales, there is limited availability at that price point. Most cities are around 50,000 SkyMiles round-trip, which is a savings of at least 10,000 SkyMiles off the typical non-sale redemption. This deal is available from most airports with Delta service.

There are also some cities that have sale availability for Delta’s new Premium Select cabins. You will find Premium select cabins on Delta’s new Airbus A350 and retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft. While this is still a great value, Delta recently devalued their Premium Select product by no longer allowing connecting flights to fly in domestic first class. All things considered, this isn’t the worst thing and you will still connect in Comfort Plus.

Thrifty Tip #4: See our full review of Delta’s Premium Select cabin here.

Bottom Line

Delta continues to impress with their solid monthly flash sales. Delta flash sales are one of the main reasons we place a higher value on the SkyMiles program than most. With the lack of an award chart, Delta can effectively charge you as many SkyMiles as they please for an award ticket. What many fail to realize is that this can often work in your favor as is the case with this deal. This sale ends July 11th at 11:59 EST, so don’t wait if you are thinking about booking.
