Delta has launched an advertised SkyMiles Flash Sale to Asia. However, this deal is much larger than advertised and available from almost every airport with Delta service!

Availability this fall. The offer to some cities expires on Monday night, August 27th. However, deals to Hong Kong (HKG) are bookable through Wednesday, August 29th. This deal starts at 30k SkyMiles round-trip (the norm is 70k-125k). This is a bargain as these cash fares are often north of $1,000.

Thrifty Tip #1: When booking, make sure to select “Calendar View” and “5 weeks” to maximize the dates viewable.

Thrifty Tip #2: Want to boost your SkyMiles balance? The Delta Amex cards are offering limited time 60k and 70k sign-up bonuses!

Our Analysis

This deal starts at 30,000 SkyMiles and goes up to 80,000 SkyMiles round-trip. Not all departure cities will have deal availability into all destinations cities. However, this is a huge savings off of a typical non-sale redemption which typically runs between 70k and 125k SkyMiles. Further, cash prices can often cost over $1,000.

As is often the case with these SkyMiles flash sales, the deal is much larger than advertised. They are only advertising the Hong Kong portion of the deal from five cities, however, we were able to find sale pricing from almost every airport with Delta service. Check your local airport!

Further, these routes will run you between $50 and $70 in international taxes and fees. The catch here is that you need to book the fares by 11;59 PM Eastern time on August 27th or by Wednesday, August 29th for routes to Hong Kong (HKG) if you want to take advantage.

Bottom Line

Delta continues to impress with their solid monthly flash sales. These sales are one of the main reasons we place a higher value on the SkyMiles program than most. With the lack of an award chart, Delta can effectively charge you as many SkyMiles as they please for an award ticket. What many fail to realize is that this can often work in your favor as is the case with this deal.
