Citi 50k AAdvantage Platinum Select MasterCard offer is back!
The Citi Platinum 50k American AAdvantage offer is one of the best recurring offers in the points game. That’s enough points for a one-way business class trip to Europe (50k miles) or more than enough for a round-trip flight to Europe in the off-peak season (40k miles). The current offer requires spending $3000 in the first 90 days. There is no annual fee for the first year, and $95 starting in the second year. Citi also just announced that there will no foreign transactions fees on this card!
This was one of the first cards I applied for when I got into the points game six years ago. It’s a simple card with no annual fee for the first year, and after closure you can open it again 18 months later to get the bonus again! Mrs. TT and I utilized our AAdvantage miles last summer to fly business class from Chicago to Dusseldorf, Germany, all for only 50k AAdvantage miles each!
Another great way to get to Europe is by flying American to Dublin. From there you can take one of many budget airlines such as Ryanair, and get anywhere else in Europe for cheap. Almost all flights to Dublin have great availability in business class, which is rare, and you can fly on American the whole way there, instead of having to fly on British Airways, which has high fuel surcharges.
Thrifty Tip #3: Want to find wide open availability in business class to Europe for next to nothing in fees? Try flying to Dublin and then take Ryanair or another carrier to your final destination!
The Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card is one of basic but essential cards in the points game. Don’t forget to pair this with the CitiGold checking offer to earn an additional 50k AAdvantage miles! That’s enough for a round-trip flight to anywhere in the world! This is a limited time offer so apply before it disappears again.
