Best New Flight Tool: FlyerMiler

There is nothing more frustrating and time consuming than trying to find the best use of points to get to your next destination. Well stop wasting time FlyerMiler is going to make your life much easier! The tool was developed by the smart bloggers over at Economical Excursionists for themselves but now they’ve been kind enough to share.

All you need to do is head over to FlyerMiler and enter your origin and destination. The software will do the rest to determine what is the thriftiest loyalty program for your award routing. On the right hand side you can filter out if you want economy, premium economy, business, or first class. The tool gives you the mileage amount, sample routings, details on any restrictions (blackout dates), and fuel surcharges.

The best part is that once you’ve found a possible award you highlight it and select the Routes tab and it will show you the shortest routing to your destination. This way you’ll know the fastest routing during your next award fare search!

The creators of the tool did not include Delta in the list of search results. Delta does not publish an awards chart, which has pissed off many in the points game. Well, I live in a Delta hub so I have to drink the kool-aid. The abundance of American Express credit cards offers lately makes Delta hard to ignore. There is also a lot of value in Delta one-way awards, Pay with Miles fares, flights to Alaska, and Delta award tickets on Virgin to Europe or Australia. FlyerMiler not having Delta won’t stop me from using the tool but it seems a bit shortsighted.

Bottom Line

FlyerMiler is a great new tool that can help anyone from a beginner to a points game expert. It clears up a lot of the confusion and helps you to concentrate on the points programs which will offer the best value for your miles.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing our tool! I’m glad that others can find it useful!!! I’ve actually posted why we don’t include Delta in a post http://www.economicalexcursionists.com/isnt-delta-flyermiler/ The biggest reason though is, how can we include an awards chart when they don’t have one 😉
If ever they decide to not be jerks and publish an awards chart, I guarantee it will be included, despite our better judgement.
Either way, thanks again for letting others know that it doesn’t need to take hours to map out their awards routes!
