The 10 Best Credit Card Offers for May 2019
The terms of new credit card sign up bonuses are constantly changing. It can be tough to track, but we want to make sure you have the most up-to-date information on the best offers currently available in the marketplace.
These are what the Thrifty Traveler team considers the 10 best travel rewards credit card offers for May 2019 that are publicly available.
1. Chase Sapphire Preferred Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is currently offering 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of card membership. The annual fee is $95 and it’s not waived for the first year of card membership. The sign-up bonus is worth at least $750 if redeemed through the Chase portal. This is one of the top travel rewards cards out there for beginners.
It earns 2x Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent on travel and dining and 1x point per dollar on everything else. It offers one of our favorite ways to book flight deals through our Thrifty Traveler Premium service.

Barclays recently waived the first year annual fee on the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® which greatly increases the value proposition this card offers.
Enjoy 70,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, and earn unlimited 2x miles on every purchase. Book travel your way—no airline, seat or hotel restrictions—and redeem your miles for travel statement credits. This is the highest ever offer on this card.
Get 5% miles back to use toward your next redemption, every time you redeem. Additionally, there no foreign transaction fees. Your miles don’t expire as long as your account is open, active and in good standing, and the $89 annual fee is waived the first year.
This is one of my favorite credit cards to use for cruises, Airbnb or any other travel expense you can’t cover with traditional points and miles. Simply make the purchase on your card and then redeem the miles as a statement credit to erase the charge. This is about as easy as redeeming points and miles is going to get.

3. Chase Freedom Unlimited Card
Chase has rolled out a new offer on the no annual fee Chase Freedom Unlimited card that could make it one of the best cards for earning Chase points or cash back on your everyday spending.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited can now earn 3% cash back (or 3x Ultimate Rewards Points!) on all spending up to $20,000 in the first year of card membership (and 1.5% back on all spending after that).
The Chase Freedom Unlimited card does not have an annual fee, making it a great companion to either the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve as you can turn the cash back in earns into Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
The card is subjected to the Chase 5/24 rule, so that is something you will need to consider before applying.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is currently offering 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of card membership. The Annual Fee is $450, but the card offers $300 in annual travel credits – automatically wiping out costs for airfare, hotels, cab rides, Uber, etc. The points redeem at a rate of 1.5 cents each through the Chase portal, so the sign-up bonus alone is worth at least $750.
The card also comes with a Priority Pass membership, an up to $100 fee credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and a host of other premium benefits. See our post on why we think it is the best travel rewards credit card. Additionally, it offers one of our favorite ways to book flight deals through our Thrifty Traveler Premium service.
