American AAdvantage 10% Rebate on Point Redemptions
Since 2012, Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select cardholders have been offered a 10% rebate bonus on AAdvantage point redemptions. This is a rarely discussed but valuable feature of the AAdvantage Platinum Select card.
You don’t have to apply for the rebate, it’s all automatic. When you book a flight you are instantly credited back 10% of your points. The bonus is capped at 10k points per calendar year, regardless of how many Citi AAdvantage cards you hold.
Last month I redeemed 100k AAdvantage miles on a round-trip business ticket to Europe. I was immediately credited back 7500 points. I would have been credited 10k, but I already received a rebate of 2500 points earlier this year for my Dreamliner flight.
The Citi AAdvantage 10% rebate is one of my favorite features of the Platinum Select card. Last month we discussed the Citi AAdvantage Loophole, which allows you to earn more than one bonus for the Platinum Select card. Maximize your points by using the loophole and by utilizing the rebate. The AAdvantage 10% rebate will also help to offset some of the pain of the upcoming AAdvantage devaluation. The 10% rebate is just another way to maximize your point potential!
