5 Apps to Help Save Gas Money
Although oil and gas prices are at decade low prices, there is no reason you can’t save and stack even more cash. I use all the apps below, and they help Mrs. TT and I save a lot of coin. The best part is all the following apps to help you save gas money are free!
My favorite app to help you save gas money: GasBuddy or Gasprices.com
GasBuddy is the undisputed king of the list. I’ve used Gas Buddy for over five years. You can use it anywhere to find the cheapest gas nearby. Prices are user submitted and you can sort by location, gas type, and also view by map. The desktop website will also allow you to find the cheapest prices by state and also look at historical prices/trends.
Waze is the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Waze is an excellent app for drivers who need to know the location and severity of traffic along their route, and enjoy sharing their knowledge of the road. Waze is very similar to Google Maps but it community driven by users. Is there a crash on your route? Speed trap? All these things can be identified using Waze and help you and other users save time and money.
This app is the most common on the list but many people don’t know that you use it for checking traffic congestion or for public transportation options. Everyday before I leave the office I always fire up Google Maps to show me the fastest route home.
Google Maps is especially useful for travel abroad since you can determine public transit schedules. Google Maps typically has subway/tram/bus schedules built-in under the public transportation option. If you have an Android phone you can also save maps to your phone and use Google Maps without cell service! This feature is coming to iOS in the near future.
Quickly find the best gas prices nearby. Easily find restaurants, roadside assistance, coffee, auto repair and ATM’s and see the search results alongside gas stations near you.
Do you always find yourself filling up near home or down the street from work? Label and save your frequent locations for easy access to up to date prices. You can even save a few extra cents by comparing the price of gas near work, home, or other favorite locations to find the cheapest available. Interesting alternative to Gas Buddy and my newest app download.
Find nearby gas stations, sorted by price, and see the best route to get there. You can also see which attractions are around the gas station of your choice. The app also allows you to calculate your MPG from your last tank of gas.
