Just this past week, Chase bank updated the welcome offer on the co-branded Marriott Rewards Premier credit card. You will now receive 75,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months from account opening, and the annual fee is waived for the first year (then $85). Previously, the welcome offer did not waive the annual fee in year one but did offer 80,000 bonus points.

Benefits of the Marriott Rewards Premier Card

Sign Up Bonus – The card is offering 75,000 Marriott Rewards points after spending $3,000 within the first three months of card membership. This is enough points for a 3-night stay at a Marriott Category 5 hotel.

Free Night Stay – Each year, after your account anniversary date, enjoy a free one night stay at a category 1-5 Marriott hotel. For a full list of Marriott hotels by category, visit this link.

5X Marriott Rewards Points – At all Marriott & SPG hotels.

2X Marriott Rewards Points – On all airfare purchased directly with the airlines, car rental agencies & restaurants.

1X Marriott Rewards Points – On all other purchases.

$0 Introductory Annual Fee – The annual fee is waived in year one, and $85 after that. There are also no foreign transaction fees.

Transfers to the Starwood Preferred Guest Program – With the recent SPG & Marriott Merger, you can now transfer Marriott points to the most flexible loyalty currency out there, Starwood Preferred Guest. Marriott & SPG points can instantly be transferred in both directions at a ratio of 3:1 (1:3 if coming from SPG to Marriott). All you need to do is link your accounts.

Application Eligibility for the Marriott Rewards Premier Card

Per Chase’s terms on the application, “this product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months”. Further, the Marriott Rewards Premier card is subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule. This means that if you have opened 5 or more new credit accounts in the past 24 months, you will not be approved for this card product.

Bottom Line

This is a great offer and one you should take advantage of now if you have never had the Marriott Rewards Premier card and are not impacted by the 5/24 restriction. Because of the SPG & Marriott merger, we do not know the future of either loyalty program or their co-branded credit cards. Take advantage of this offer while it is still around.
